Reservation policy

If you want to make a reservation at short notice (one or two days before your planned stay), it is advisable to send us an e-mail and also to make a follow-up phone call (as we may not be able to check our e-mail in time). All our receptionists speak both Spanish and English, so don’t worry if your Spanish is a bit rudimentary or rusty!

Contacting us three or four weeks before your planned stay at The Monkey Hut is normally sufficient to ensure a room or a space in the dorm.

We normally require a 50% deposit (including taxes) for most of our reservations. The deposit can be made by:

  • transfer to our Nicaraguan bank account (Banpro account in US Dollars or Nicaraguan Córdobas). We only accept national bank transfers.
  • credit card (VISA and Master Card) - we apply an 'authorization hold' to your credit card, which still gives you the option later to cancel the full payment in cash if you wish so (you can send us the credit card information by email or if you prefer by telephone)
  • cash payment in The Monkey Hut

Our receptionist can provide you the necessary details of our bank account.

Securing your reservation with a credit card, bank transfer or cash payment means you accept the terms of our Cancellation Policy (see below)

There’s no need to make a reservation for day visits, but it may be a good idea to call The Monkey Hut in order to check whether the property is not privately rented out.


Cancellation and no-show policy

If you need to cancel or change your reservation, we would need to know straight away so that we can release the reservation and offer the accommodation to someone else. Please send us an email at least seven calendar days before the planned stay in order to cancel or change your reservation.

Should you cancel your reservation without at least a seven-day notice, we reserve the right to keep the 50% deposit. Cancellations or no-shows on the same day of your planned visit will be charged at 100%.

There are no refunds or credits issued for early checkouts.

There are no refunds or credits issued due to bad weather, or other natural conditions.
